Electronic waste

What is electronic waste?

Electronic waste may be defined as discarded computers, office electronic equipment, entertainment device electronics, mobile phones, television sets, among other things. These items can contain hazardous substances such as mercury, lead, cadmium, chromium and PBDEs, and therefore must be disposed of properly, and not in your weekly garbage collection.

How do I dispose of electronic waste?

  • Electronic waste can be dropped off at the Public Works depot (7001 Mackle Rd.)

Monday to Thursday: 8 am to 11:30 am, and 12 pm to 2:30 pm
Friday: 8 am to 11:30 am

  • Residents can also request a special pick up of e-waste by calling Public Works at 514-485-6868.
  • Electronic waste can also be dropped off at Écocentre Côte-des-Neiges(6928 Côte-des-Neiges Rd.). The service is free for residents who drop-off limited amounts in a private vehicle, but a fee will apply for larger loads or drop-offs by contractors.

Proof of residency and photo ID are required.

To find out the opening hours of the Écocentre Côte-des-Neiges, call them at 514-872-3517.

  • Electronic waste is also accepted at the special collection day for Hazardous Household Waste. See the Hazardous Household Waste page for dates and times.
