EMSB by-election information for Ward 4

The English Montreal School Board (EMSB) has announced there will be three candidates in the by-election in Ward 4 (Côte Saint-Luc-Hampstead). Voting will take place on Sunday, December 13 with advance polls opened on Sunday, December 6. The candidates are Michèle Cohen, Bernard Praw and Charlotte Sarah Smoley. This by-election was made necessary following the passing last month of long-time school commissioner Syd Wise.

Any parent who has a child registered in an EMSB youth sector elementary or high school as of September 30, 2015 is automatically included on the electoral list. In addition, any elector who made a choice as of November 2007 elections and had his/her name entered on the EMSB electoral list is entered as well. These individuals would have signed a special form. If you do not recall doing so, you can verify whether your name appears on the list during the upcoming revision process by calling 514- 483 7200 ext. 8800 (EMSB election office). It must either be mailed or brought to the EMSB Administration Building in person as an original signature is required by November 24, 2015. A form is available online at www.emsb.qc.ca.

In order to vote you must currently be on the permanent list of electors in Quebec, be 18 years of age and over, a Canadian citizen, domiciled in the territory of the EMSB, have been domiciled in Quebec for at least six months, not be under curatorship and not have been convicted of an offence that is a corrupt electoral practice.   

The revision period is on November 18 (10 am to 1 pm and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm), November 19 (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm and 7 pm to 10 pm) and Tuesday, November 24 (10 am to 1 pm, 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm and 7 pm to 10 pm). You can visit the EMSB Election Office in N.D.G. (6000 Fielding Avenue, Room 114).
