Quebec Electoral Court Challenge

The City of Côte Saint-Luc has contributed $7,000 to a fund to challenge in court a decision by the Quebec electoral commission to enlarge our D’Arcy-McGee riding thereby diluting the relative weight of your vote during a Quebec election.

This is a basic question of fairness. Our only remaining option is to join with our neighbours and residents in challenging the new electoral map before the courts.

We also oppose merging of the Mont-Royal riding with neighboring Outremont, which will reduce the representation from the island of Montreal at the National Assembly.

Constitutional lawyer Julius Grey has taken the case and will plead before the courts to reverse the decision.

We encourage residents to contribute what they can to help fund this important legal challenge. The city will match dollar-for-dollar up to $3,000.

Cheques should be payable to Julius Grey in Trust. They can be or dropped at City Hall or mailed to: Electoral Court Challenge, c/o City of Côte Saint-Luc, 5801 Cavendish Blvd., Quebec, H4W 3C3. We will deliver the cheques to the law offices of Julius Grey.
