Public Works and Engineering
The public infrastructure of Côte Saint-Luc is maintained by its Public Works Department, which paves and repairs roads, installs traffic lights and street signs, clears snow, plants and tends trees and flowers, collects garbage and recycling, oversees testing of the water system, makes repairs to public buildings and much more.
Urban Planning
The Urban Planning Department is responsible for the city plan, the urban woodland program, the emergency measures plan, bylaws concerning nuisances and cleanliness, city planning bylaws such as zoning, construction and sub-division, as well as issuing permits for private home renovations. The biggest Urban Planning project in the coming year will be the re-development of the Cavendish Mall area.
Legal Affairs
The legal department of the City of Côte Saint-Luc oversees all legal claims and reviews all city contracts, which reduces the need for outside attorneys and saves taxpayers’ money. Apart from these cost-saving measures, Côte Saint-Luc has also developed a claims management system and created systems, policies and procedures for better, more effective management of claims, access to information, legal opinions, and follow-ups.
Parks and Recreation
The City of Côte Saint-Luc Parks and Recreation Department provide residents with programs in sports, leisure, and culture. It organizes community events throughout the year and maintains recreation facilities such as the Samuel Moskovitch Arena and the pool.
Library
The Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library provides programs and services that contribute to the cultural and intellectual lives of Côte Saint-Luc residents. Librarians help readers and book club members find information such as reviews, discussion questions, author information, online databases, and interesting books to read.
Pubic Safety
The City of Côte Saint-Luc public safety services are under a unified
command. The city’s public safety services supplement the island-wide
police and fire protection services. The Public Safety Department is responsible for overseeing the Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Public Security, Volunteer Citizens on Patrol (vCOP),
Emergency Communications Centre and the emergency preparedness plan
Finance
The Financial Services Department is responsible for collecting property taxes, preparing the Côte Saint-Luc budget with City Council and ensuring that funds are available for the services the city provides.
Public Affairs and Communications
The Department of Public Affairs and Communications is responsible for producing the municipal newspaper, notices to residents, calendar of events, videos, posters and other marketing materials, the city website and more.
