Mayor for a Day Contest
Are you a Côte Saint-Luc resident or attend a school in Côte Saint-Luc and are in grades 5 or 6 or grades 10 or 11? This is your chance for your voice to be heard.
Write an essay of between one and two pages about what you would do if you were Mayor for a day. Tell us how you would improve Côte Saint-Luc.
One winner will be selected from the elementary school entries and from the high school entries. Winners will read their essays in front of the Mayor and City Councillors during a City Council meeting at City Hall.
Contest rules and guidelines
Contest open only to Côte Saint-Luc residents or students attending a school in Côte Saint-Luc. Please limit the length of your essay to no more than two pages (or 400 words).
Include your name, age, grade, address, and phone number on the top of your essay.
Deadline
Essays are due on or before March 13, 2009.

2008 winners
Ileana Solivo (left) and Lennyx Craig (middle) of Merton School and Jeremy Elbaz (right) of École Maimonide were selected as the 2008 Mayor for a Day winners in Côte Saint-Luc, following an essay-writing contest.
Lennyx discussed pollution problems, Ileana wrote about issues regarding snow removal and road work, and Jeremy touched on library renovations and traffic congestion. Côte Saint-Luc residents or students attending a school in Côte Saint-Luc in grade five, six, 10 and 11 were asked to submit an essay explaining what they would do if they were the mayor of Côte Saint-Luc for a day.
The three winners visited city hall and toured the city on June 30. They read their winning essays in front of the Mayor and city councillors during a council meeting at city hall on September 8.
