Special Waste Collection

Special waste collection is available to the residents who wish to get rid of non-domestic waste such as construction, demolition or home renovation materials. For this service residents must call Public Works at 514-485-6868 for an estimate.

Depending on weather conditions, the waste is generally picked up within 24 hours, except in case of a storm.

If the quantity of branches left is too great for regular pick up, an estimate is required just as it is for construction waste. The branches must be tied into bundles no greater that 1.2 metres (4 ft.) long and 60 cm. (24 in.) in diameter.

Branches and construction materials must be placed near the sidewalk or curb, on the spot where the resident usually places his refuse for regular collection. Public Works employees are not authorized to make estimates in back yards, garages or home basements, these areas not being covered by insurance. The cost is proportional to the amount of waste and is calculated according to the equipment and number of employees required to do the work. The estimate is free and there are no forms to complete. The resident asks for an estimate after neatly placing the waste near the sidewalk, on the curb. No materials are excluded except hazardous domestic waste. Payment can be made at City Hall or the Public Works Department. Everything is picked up within 24 hours.

Home appliances are picked up at the same time as regular refuse. As a safety measure, residents are required to remove the doors of the home appliances and the locks on suitcases before putting them out on the curb.
