2010 Côte Saint-Luc Winter Carnival
Côte Saint-Luc, February 5, 2010 - The 2010 Côte Saint-Luc Winter Carnival will include horse-drawn carriage rides, taffy on the snow, a pancake breakfast, outdoor hockey tournament and much more at Pierre Elliott Trudeau Park and the Samuel Moskovitch Arena from Friday, February 12 to Sunday February 14.
"The Côte Saint-Luc Winter Carnival is a major highlight of the winter season and I encourage our citizens to spend a few hours with their neighbours at this community event," said Councillor Mitchell Brownstein, who is a co-chairperson of the winter carnival. "Residents of all ages should take full advantage of these free activities."
"Whether you like to get your face painted, enjoy a figure skating exhibition or simply want a good pancake breakfast, you'll find something fun to do at the Côte Saint-Luc Winter Carnival," said Councillor Allan J. Levine who is a co-chairperson of the winter carnival. "Our staff has been hard at work planning a wonderful event."
The fun will start on Friday, February 12 with the beginning of the Peewee ‘A' invitational outdoor hockey tournament. 8 teams from various communities will participate in this weekend tournament, which will conclude on Sunday, February 14.
On Saturday, February 13, a special public skating session at the Samuel Moskovitch Arena (6985 Mackle Rd.) will take place from 8pm to 9:20pm, with all proceeds from the entrance fees going to Manoir Ronald McDonald.
On Sunday, February 14, from 11:30am to 2pm, a hot pancake breakfast will be served in Chalet 1 of Pierre Elliott Trudeau Park (6975 Mackle Rd.). The breakfast is sponsored by McDonald's franchisee Pierre Brunet. From noon to 4pm, children can enjoy face painting, arts and crafts, balloons, hot chocolate, cider, taffy on snow, inflatable activities, horse-drawn carriage rides and skating on Centennial Lake.
Also on Sunday, February 14 inside the Samuel Moskovitch Arena, people can view the figure skating club exhibition from 12pm to 1:35pm. Public skating will be free of charge from 1:45pm to 2:50pm. Finally, the Youth Hockey all-star game takes place from 4pm to 5:20pm.
Event sponsors include The Suburban, Domino's Pizza, IGA Pagano, Qualitifruits and Infusion Catering.
With the exception of public skating on February 13, all Winter Carnival activities are free of charge. Donations will be accepted for Le Manoir Ronald McDonald de Montréal throughout the event. Community partners and patrons raised $2,500 for this charity in 2009. The Manoir offers an affordable and comforting home away from home for families who have a child hospitalized for a serious sickness in a Montreal hospital.
