City raises $2,500 for Ronald McDonald House
Councillors Allan J. Levine, Ruth Kovac, Mitchell Brownstein and Mike Cohen join Mayor Anthony Housefather and Parks and Recreation Director David Taveroff in the presentation of a cheque for $2,500 to the Manoir Ronald McDonald House charity on Sunday, February 8, 2009 during the Côte Saint-Luc Winter Carnival.
The Manoir offers an affordable and comforting home away from home for families who have a child hospitalized for a serious sickness in a Montreal hospital. Information is available about the Manoir at www.rmhc.ca.
Magic, chess and babysitting course highlight new programs for children and teens
Space in the Magic Mondays class is limited and registration has started. The six-week magic class begins February 23 and runs from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. The beginner’s magic class is open to children age 8 to 12. The class is instructed by professional magician Claude Marroni from Wings of Illusion. The cost of $72 for Côte Saint-Luc residents and $90 for non-residents. The class is held in Chalet 1 of Pierre Elliott Trudeau Park.
Côte Saint-Luc Minor Hockey Day at Montreal Juniors game launches Winter Carnival Month

Maisons Fleuries Contest
The winners and runners up in the 2008 Maisons Fleuries home garden contest were announced on Monday evening, November 3 at 7:30pm at Côte Saint-Luc City Hall.
The grand prize winner in the category of single-family homes or
semi-detached homes was the Giordano family of Smart Ave. The grand prize winner in the duplex category was Remo D’Alesio of Baily Rd.
The following is the list of grand prize winners, and district winners and runners up. The elite category is reserved to honour people who have been district winners at least twice in the past three years.

Halloween Skating Party on Ice & Haunted House
On Sunday October 26th, the Parks and Recreation Department held its’ annual Halloween Skating Party on Ice. This event was free of charge for anyone who dressed up in a costume. Participants of all ages had a great time skating while the music was playing in the background. One of the main highlights was the costume contest, in which prizes were
awarded to those who dressed up in the most creative costumes. The winners were as follows:
- Boys: Ofil Vaknin (pirate) and Jacob Lang (spiderman)
- Girls: Michelle Akim (flower) and Sabrina Disciullo (witch)
- Adult: Nathalie Ste-Marie (witch)
Funds were also collected for the Montreal Children’s Hospital
Foundation, through the sale of Parks and Recreation Department
bracelets. All children left with both a treat and a smile on their
face, as a good time was had by all.
Homemade Wine Tasting Contest 2008
The Homemade Wine Tasting Contest took place on October 15, 2008, at
7pm in the Harold Greenspon Auditorium of the Bernard Lang Civic
Centre. The well-known wine connaisseur Bill Zacharkiw of The Gazette
was the official taster. Special thanks to Donato Mancini of Mosti
Mondiale for sponsoring the event.

Song Trivia Competition Winners
On Saturday, August 16, 2008, a song trivia competition was held at the Côte Saint-Luc Municipal Pool. It was a great success with adults participating throughout the pool area.
- First place winners Jay Jay Roboz and Elizabeth Toeman
- Second place winner Ali Rosenthal
- Third place winners Steven Abrams and Harvey Robins
The winners received prizes including disposable cameras, golf balls and Coffee mugs.
2008 Midget "A" Angels Baseball team off to 8-0 Start!
Playing in the very competitive Lac St Louis Midget "A" league, the Midget "A" Angels baseball team is off to a terrific 8-0 start! The Angels team is comprised of players from Côte Saint-Luc, Montreal West, Hampstead, Westmount and TMR. All home games are played on Diamond #1 at Pierre Elliott Trudeau Park. 2008 Senior's Golf Outing a great success!
The Senior Golf Outing was played on a hot and sunny day on the back nine at Meadowbrook on Tuesday, July 8th. This years’ outing was sponsored by Bell Canada. Golfers were presented with their very own golf balls and towels, inscribed by the City of Côte Saint-Luc and Bell Canada. Jean Coutu also donated 100 coffee cups, as well as 50 three-shot cameras.
Rally Cap Baseball Program a Huge Success!
The Rally Cap Baseball program which was offered in the Spring Sports session for children 5 - 7 years of age was a huge success.
Over 30 children registered and played on Mondays and Wednesdays at Kirwan Park learning the fundamentals of baseball skills and techniques taught by qualified instructors supplied by Baseball Quebec.

2007-2008 Côte Saint-Luc Minor Hockey Intercity Team Accomplishments
Another successful hockey season has come to an end for the Côte Saint-Luc minor hockey association. Overall, it has been a terrific season both on and off the ice. The season ending banquet is slated for Sunday April 13 at the Greenspon Auditorium from 11am-12:30pm. Farrel Miller, one of the owners of the new Montreal Juniors hockey team that plays in the Quebec Major Junior League will be a guest speaker.

Côte Saint-Luc New Music Jazz Band Program
Come and join a new team and learn to play in a band. The City of Côte Saint Luc will sponsor a new activity this fall should residents display interest. This program is offered to beginners as well as to those with musical experience aged 5-14 years. All participants will have an opportunity to “try out” up to 8 different instruments in order to determine potential & suitability. Students will be grouped according to skill level. Private and/or semi-private lessons will also be offered on a variety of instruments.
