Motorized Equipment Mechanic

The city of Côte Saint-Luc is a dynamic municipality on the island of Montreal with a population of approximately 33 000. The city prides itself on providing the highest level of services to its residents at a reasonable cost. We are currently recruiting a: 

Motorized Equipment Mechanic- Public Works Department


Work involves the verification, maintenance, adjustment and repair of the mechanical parts and accessories of motorized equipment.

Key responsibilities:

Find the nature of the defect and replace the defective parts.

Perform mechanical work that requires the maintenance and repair equipment, heavy or light.

Monitor, remove, disassemble, repair, rebuilds, uninstall and reinstall engines, carburetors or injectors, transmissions, steering, brakes, differentials, clutches, starters, alternators, batteries, springs, pivots and hydraulic and hydrostatic systems.

Align and balance the wheels using the appropriate devices.

Perform at the installation and the necessary repairs to new mechanisms as indicated by instruction manuals.

Perform simple welding work.

Adjust and install electronic components on engines, transmissions, brakes (ABS), injection system and others. Install the necessary wiring for the various accessories and the different fasteners.

Remove, check, repair and remount the heating, defrosting and air conditioning components of motorized appliances.

Perform repairs on the road and, if necessary, perform road tests to diagnose a problem or to verify the repair performed.

Perform any other related tasks.


Qualifications and education:

Hold a professional diploma in heavy vehicle mechanics

A valid class 3 driver's license

Have PEP certification (SAAQ)

Have 4-5 years of experience relevant to the job.

Hold a public works and construction card (APSAM) or a general health and safety card on construction sites (ASP Construction).

Have good knowledge of the techniques, practices and tools used in the practice of the trade; the construction and operation of motorized appliances

Have a good knowledge of French and English, spoken and written


Salary and benefits:

According to the collective agreement the salary is $33.61/h.



Monday to Thursday from 6:45 to 15:00 and Friday from 6:45 to 11:45
