Côte Saint-Luc appoints Jordy Reichson Director of Public Safety
Côte Saint-Luc, August 31, 2009 - The City of Côte Saint-Luc announced today the appointment of Jordy Reichson to the position of Director of Public Safety.
Reichson has been employed by the city since July 2008 as Manager of Urban Planning. For the past 11 years, Reichson has volunteered countless hours as a first responder with the Côte Saint-Luc Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
“Jordy brings a valuable mix of skills to the administration and will continue to be a tremendous asset to the city,” Mayor Anthony Housefather said. “His know-how and determination will benefit residents, staff and volunteers alike.”
Reichson will be responsible for five safety dossiers: Public Security, Emergency Medical Services, Volunteer Citizens on Patrol, Emergency Communications Centre and Emergency Preparedness.
“This new position will bring together all our emergency and prevention services under one professional hat and will help to further improve the position of Côte Saint-Luc as one of the safest communities in Quebec,” said Councillor Glenn J. Nashen, the council member responsible for public safety. “Having volunteered with Jordy in several capacities over many years, I have enormous confidence in his abilities to achieve great success in this new position.”
Reichson holds a bachelor degree in arts with a specialization in urban studies from Concordia University. He is an active volunteer with the St. John Ambulance where he serves as regional director and the Canadian Ski Patrol. At Côte Saint-Luc EMS he holds the title of Lieutenant and has extensive experience as a first responder. As a student he worked as a dispatcher in the Côte Saint-Luc Emergency Communications Centre.
“I am looking forward to serving the residents of Côte Saint-Luc in this new capacity,” Reichson said. “Côte Saint-Luc has been a leader in health and safety issues and I will work hard to continue to uphold and further improve these standards.”
