Magillah in concert at the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library

Côte Saint-Luc, May 11, 2011 – Magillah (formerly The Merovitz Project) will perform on Thursday, May 19 at 7pm at the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library.

This event is presented in partnership with Le Conseil des arts de Montréal en tourneé and Musique-Multi Montréal.

Magillah is a Yiddish/Klezmer band directed by Montreal accordionist-arranger Henri Oppenheim and featuring lead singer Michelle Heisler. Julie Triquet plays the violin, Mathieu Deschenaux is the bassist and Eric Breton is on percussion. Magillah performs the Hebrew and Yiddish vocal repertoire of eastern European Jews through traditional Klezmer melodies and original compositions.

In 2009, Magillah received the Prix Etoiles-Galaxie de Radio-Canada prize.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to hear Jewish music at its best by first-rate Montreal Klezmer musicians, “ said Music Librarian Farah Mohammed.

Tickets for this program are $5 in advance and $7 the day of the event.
