Juno-nominated pianist Matt Herskowitz to perform a free concert in Côte Saint-Luc

Matt Herskowitz concert on June 16, 2011 in Côte Saint-LucCôte Saint-Luc, June 9, 2011 – Pianist Matt Herskowitz will perform on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 7 pm at the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library.

Matt Herskowitz is a multi-talented pianist who is versatile in classical, jazz, pop and world music. Herskowitz is also a composer, songwriter and arranger. His newest album, Jerusalem Trilogy, features original compositions and a mix of classical and contemporary jazz styles. Herskowitz is known for incorporating an original jazz twist on traditional classical pieces.

The performance of Herskowitz on the soundtrack of the Grammy-nominated film The Triplets of Belleville has earned him much popular and critical acclaim. His 2007 solo piano release Matt Herskowitz Plays George Gershwin was nominated in 2009 for Quebec’s prestigious classical music Prix Opus award. His album Jerusalem Trilogy was nominated in the category of Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year at the 2011 Juno Awards. A graduate of the Juilliard School in New York and the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, Matt is originally from Albany, New York and has made Montreal his adopted home of 12 years.

“We are very pleased to offer this concert free of charge to the public,” Assistant Library Director Janine West said. “This concert is an excellent opportunity to hear a wonderful mix of classical, jazz and Jewish-themed music.”

A limited number of free passes are available. There is a maximum of one free pass per person.
