Côte Saint-Luc, February 3, 2012 – The City of Côte Saint-Luc will be hosting the Winter Swimming Festival of the Quebec Swimming Federation (FNQ), from Friday, February 10 to Sunday, February 12, 2012.
This Quebec-wide swim meet will bring together swimmers from all corners of the province to compete in a high level age-group competition. The event will be held at the newly built Aquatic and Community Centre (ACC), located at 5794 Parkhaven Ave.
Preliminary heats will take place on Friday, February 10 from 6 pm to 8 pm; and Saturday, February 11 and Sunday, February, 12 from 9 am to noon. Finals will take place on Saturday, February 11 and Sunday, February 12 from 5 pm to 8 pm. The swim meet is open to the public. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The 10 lane, 25 metre competition pool is 2.65 metres deep and was built with all the technical requirements necessary to host large-scale swimming competitions including electronic timing for each lane and a LED score board. The rest of the ACC provides new and modern amenities to accommodate swimmers, coaches and officials participating in these events.
“Côte Saint-Luc is very proud to be hosting our first major provincial level swim meet during the inaugural year of the Aquatic and Community Centre,” Mayor Anthony Housefather said. “We have had tremendous success in building a swim team in our first year of operations and this is a tremendous opportunity for our team to compete at its home pool.”
The competition and recreation pools will be closed to the public and all swimming programs will be cancelled from Friday, February 10 at 3:30 pm until Monday, February 13 at 6 am.
