Qualia: a new art exhibit at the Côte Saint-Luc library’s Art Gallery

Côte Saint-Luc, August 30, 2012 –The Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library is presenting a series of large-scale acrylic and oil paintings by Stanzie Tooth entitled Qualia from August 16 to October 7, 2012 at its Art Gallery.
Stanzie Tooth is a painter and curator at the Lonsdale Gallery, a contemporary art space in Toronto. Her work has been exhibited at numerous venues in Toronto and Kingston, including most recently Summer Session at Angell Gallery and 60 Painters at Humber Arts and Media Studios, a major exhibition of contemporary Canadian painters. Her current artworks can be viewed at www.stanzietooth.com.
Her interest is in landscapes and figuration. She uses landscape as an entry point to create her work. Many of her compositions feature figures in a landscape that seem to be absorbed by or made of their natural surroundings. Growing up in rural Ontario has shaped many of the narratives in her work.
She graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCAD) in 2007 with an award of distinction for excellence in painting.
The Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library is located at 5851 Cavendish Blvd. and is open from 10am to 10pm every day. For more information, call the library at 514-485-6900 or visit www.elcslpl.org.
