First launched in 2008, this community-wide reading initiative was created to promote a love for books in the city.

The Imposter Bride focuses on an enigmatic woman who arrives in post-war Montreal to marry a man she has never met. It is immediately clear that she is not who she claims to be but her attempt to live out her life as Lily Azerov shatters and she disappears, leaving a new husband and baby daughter, and a host of unanswered questions. It is left to the daughter she abandoned to find the answers to these questions as she searches for the mother she may never really know. Set in Montreal and periodically in Côte Saint-Luc, Richler’s novel will entice readers with her beautiful prose and a haunting plot that goes back and forth in time.

Her second novel, Your Mouth Is Lovely, won the 2003 Canadian Jewish Book Award for fiction and Italy’s 2004 Adei-Wizo Prize. It has been translated into seven languages.
