An evening of classical delights: cello and piano music in Côte Saint-Luc

Babich and ManulikOn Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 7 pm Dmitry Babich and Andrey Manulik will perform a concert featuring pieces by Bach, Mozart, Bruch and Chopin at the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library. 

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the library’s main circulation desk at 5851 Cavendish Blvd.

Babich graduated from the celebrated Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory under professor Mariya Chaikovskaya—a former student of Mstislav Rostropovich. Babich was awarded the jury’s Special Prize at the 3rd International Shostakovich String Quartet Competition and was a member of Moscow Philharmonic Franck Quartet for several years. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Performance at the University of Montreal in 2013, being the last graduate student of professor Yuli Turovsky. Babich presently teaches cello at the McGill Conservatory, le Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf as well as le Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique du Québec.

Manulik spent four years studying music in college under the tutelage of Olga Kudryavtseva. Manulik performed and won several competitions, including the international S. Prokofiev youth competition in Moscow. He also studied under Zoya Kacharskaya in Minsk. Under her guidance, Manulik also finished a Master course in 2004. Manulik is currently working toward his Doctorate at the University of Montreal, under Professor Paul Stewart.
