The Mythmaker’s Journey: a new art exhibit at the library’s Art Gallery in Côte Saint-Luc

Chiri yama by Catherine BolducCôte Saint-Luc, December 5, 2012 – The Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library is presenting a series of meticulously-detailed ink drawings by Catherine Bolduc entitled The Mythmaker’s Journey from December 6, 2012 to January 27, 2013 at the library’s art gallery.

These abstract drawings are inspired by places she’s visited including Egypt, Turkey, Japan.

“The artwork celebrates the triumph of imagination over reality,” Bolduc said. “The essence of the works is accumulating and juxtaposing motifs in order to create artificial landscapes or fantastic cities where steep mountains, flying carpets, starry skies, volcanoes, castles or exotic palaces become recurrent figures.”

Bolduc obtained her MFA from l’Université du Québec à Montréal. She has contributed to numerous group shows as well as solo exhibits. Catherine took part in two international residencies and is the author of the book Mes Châteaux d’Air et Autres Fabulations.

Her current artworks can be viewed at www.catherinebolduc.ca.
