Côte Saint-Luc, April 23, 2009 – The Côte Saint-Luc Tennis Club, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, will be opening for the 2009 season on Friday, May 1, weather permitting.

The entertainment will begin on Thursday, April 22 at 7pm when famed playwright and director Aviva Ravel will bring a performance playreading of her play Senior Moments to the stage. Written and directed by Ravel, this performance playreading is a delightful comedy of manners that has been well-received by audiences both in Canada and abroad. Tickets for this event are $3.
 

Côte Saint-Luc begins work to fix more than one-third of city’s leaky pipes

Côte Saint-Luc, April 15, 2009 – The City of Côte Saint-Luc 2009 water infrastructure network work began last week and the city anticipates this year’s work will help reduce the number of ruptures to its underground pipes by approximately one third.

Côte Saint-Luc wins award for organic waste collection program

Côte Saint-Luc, April 8, 2009 – The environmental group CRE-Montréal yesterday honoured the City of Côte Saint-Luc with an award for its organic waste collection program at the third annual Gala de reconnaissance en environnement et développement durable de Montréal held at the Bonsecours Market in Old Montreal.

“We are happy to be honoured for leading the island in the collection of organic waste,” Mayor Anthony Housefather said. “We are committed to becoming an environmentally responsible city and our city has a lot for which to be proud.”

New program highlights 50th anniversary of the Côte Saint-Luc Tennis Club

Côte Saint-Luc, March 12, 2009 – The Côte Saint-Luc Tennis Club is looking for 10 female players to want to play competitive tennis matches against other municipalities in a fun social setting.

The Côte Saint-Luc tennis players will play in Level 2 matches against women from Roxboro, Dorval and Baie d’Urfé. Level 2 is a competitive level for advanced tennis players. Matches will be held on either Tuesday or Thursday evenings.

Bee photographer to speak at the library in Côte Saint-Luc

Côte Saint-Luc, March 12, 2009 – Artist Adam Makarenko will talk about his photography exhibit on the miniature world of bees and hives on Wednesday, March 25 at 6:30pm at the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library.

The exhibit is called “Miniature Apiary Series” and will be on display from March 12 to April 19. An apiary is a place where bees and beehives are kept.

Residents have until March 31 to choose their new blue bin

Côte Saint-Luc, February 27, 2009 – Residents of Côte Saint-Luc have until March 31 to choose between three sizes of blue bins, which the city will deliver to single-family homes and duplexes this spring.

Art, history and food usher in spring at the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library

Côte Saint-Luc, February 23, 2009 – Photographer François Brunelle will discuss his current art exhibit “I'm Not a Look-alike! / Je ne suis pas un sosie !” at the art gallery of the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library on Thursday, February 26 at 7pm. The exhibit features large-format portraits of people who look like twins, but who aren’t even related. The vernissage will be held from 6pm to 8pm and Brunelle will give a lively talk on this fascinating exhibit starting at 7pm.  

Côte Saint-Luc and union representing blue collar workers sign collective agreement

Côte Saint-Luc, February 13, 2009 –The City of Côte Saint-Luc and the Syndicat des Cols bleus regroupés de Montréal, local 301, the labour union representing Cote Saint-Luc blue collar workers signed a new collective agreement on Friday, February 13 at 2:30pm at Cote Saint-Luc City Hall. The new collective agreement is valid until December 31, 2012.

Exhibit brings look-alikes face-to-face in Côte Saint-Luc

Côte Saint-Luc, February 2, 2009 – They look like twins, but they’re not. Photographs of look-alikes will be on display from January 29 to March 8 at the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library in an exhibit by François Brunelle called “I’m not a look-alike! – Work in Progress”.

Brunelle has traveled across North America and Europe photographing people who look very much like but are not related. In some cases one participant is Canadian and the other look-alike comes from Europe, South America, or Russia.
