Côte Saint-Luc Senior Social Club appoints new president

Côte Saint-Luc, September 16, 2008 – Members of the Côte Saint-Luc Senior Social Club appointed Barbara Akerman club president for the years 2008 through 2010.

For the last two years, Akerman has been a volunteer at the Senior Social Club. She was responsible for the club’s publicity and served as a member on the executive telephone committee. She replaces Eva Silverman, a club member for more than 30 years.

Côte Saint-Luc, September 8, 2008 – The City of Côte Saint-Luc will be holding an information session on Tuesday, October 7 at 7pm at Côte Saint-Luc City Hall (5801 Cavendish Blvd.) for residents interested in joining the city’s crime prevention program, Volunteer Citizens on Patrol or vCOP.

Côte Saint-Luc Public Works Week receives top prize

Côte Saint-Luc, August 22, 2008 – The association representing public works professionals in Canada awarded the City of Côte Saint-Luc the top prize in its 2008 National Public Works Week Awards.

The Canadian Public Works Association (CPWA) awarded the top prize to Côte Saint-Luc among cities with a population of 50,000 or fewer. The results were announced at the CPWA Luncheon at the American Public Works Association Congress in New Orleans on August 18.

Free music workshop in Côte Saint-Luc give children the chance to try different instruments and be evaluated

Côte Saint-Luc, August 20, 2008 – Children and teenagers in Cote Saint-Luc can try up to eight instruments and be professionally assessed as to their musical potential and instrument suitability at the free musical instrument workshop on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Chalet 1 of Pierre Elliott Trudeau Park from 11am to 1pm.

Côte Saint-Luc unveils curbside organic waste collection to residents at open house on Wednesday, August 20 at 8pm

Côte Saint-Luc, August 18, 2008 – Côte Saint-Luc is holding an open house on Wednesday, August 20 at 8pm at city hall to unveil its curbside organic waste collection program, which starts in mid-October with all 4,798 single-family homes and duplexes.

Residents and the media are invited to attend the open house to ask questions, view the new brown bin and learn what organic materials should go inside.

City to remove public recycling bin from behind Cavendish Mall following expansion of recycling collection to most buildings

Côte Saint-Luc, August 5, 2008 – Following the expansion of recycling collection to most multi-family buildings in the City of Côte Saint-Luc, the city will be removing at the end of August the large metal bin used as a drop-off for recyclables in the south-west area of the Cavendish Mall parking lot.

Côte Saint-Luc, August 4, 2008 – The City of Côte Saint-Luc is presenting the photograph exhibit “View of the Sublime” by artist Holly King at the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library until August 10, 2008.

This exhibition is on view daily between 10am and 10pm at the library, which is located at 5851 Cavendish Blvd.

Open house on August 6 at the Côte Saint-Luc Senior Social Club

Côte Saint-Luc, July 28, 2008 – The Côte Saint-Luc Senior Social Club will be holding an open house on August 6, 2008 at 1:30pm at the Senior Social Centre. Piano player and singer Edwin Brownell will entertain guests. There is no admission charge and all seniors are welcome to attend.

Côte Saint-Luc urges province to allow U.S.-licensed physicians to easily obtain Quebec medical license

Côte Saint-Luc, July 21, 2008 – The Côte Saint-Luc city council passed a resolution on July 14 urging the Quebec government and the Collège des Médecins du Québec to allow U.S.-licensed physicians to obtain licenses to practice medicine in Quebec. The city council is reviewing the question of physicians licensed in other Canadian provinces and other jurisdictions and may follow up with future resolutions on these issues.
